Flat Carving

Flat carving is a sandblast process where the design is carved in as an outline in one dimension. 

Shaped Carving

Shaped carving is a sandblast process where the outline of the design is cut into the granite but the interior portions of the design are shaped by hollowing out certain areas to create a  dimensional look to the design.  This is generally used for floral designs.

Sculpture – In Relief

This type of carving is cut into the surface of the granite by a sculptor.  There is depth and the shape of the image can be touched in the recessed area of the design creating a 3 dimensional appearance.
